Welcome to Willow!
We are a mixed-age Year 3/ Year 4 class, which means our students learn together across two year groups. This provides a wonderful opportunity for children to share ideas, support each other, and learn at their own pace. Each child is encouraged and challenged according to their individual strengths and learning goals. In our class, we love exploring new topics, working together on creative projects, and celebrating every child’s achievements. On this page, you’ll find everything you need to know about our class, our learning, and ways to support your child at home.

Curriculum Overview
Please click the link at the top of the page for the Willow class long-term overview. We follow a two-year curriculum cycle and are currently following Cycle B. Over these two years, children cover all the content required in the National Curriculum for Lower Key Stage 2. This ensures every child experiences a broad and balanced curriculum, with learning planned progressively while accommodating the needs and abilities of both year groups in the class.
Routines
In Willow class we have daily early morning tasks laid out for the children between 8:45 and 9am. Children are therefore encouraged to arrive promptly at 8:45 to begin their activities before the official start time.
Homework is set each week. It is always set on a Monday and due in the following Monday.
· Spelling test day is Monday.
· Times table test day is Friday via Times Tables Rock Stars.
· PE day is Tuesday- please ensure children come to school in their PE kits on this day.
· Our class library day is Wednesday where children have the opportunity to visit our school library to choose a book of their choice.
· Music is on Wednesday and Willow class are lucky enough to learn to play a musical instrument- The Ukulele!
· Forest School for our class is every other half term for Willow class (Autumn 1, Spring 1, Summer 1).
This Year in Our Class
This year is full of exciting learning opportunities for our class.
The children attend swimming lessons once per week at All Season’s Leisure Centre for 6 months of the year (September – February).
Each child will have the opportunity to be a Class Worship Leader. During this time, the leaders will work alongside Mrs Stringer to deliver class worships. Their parents will also receive an invite to watch their children deliver a worship.
We pride ourself on the strong links and relationships we have with our Church and local community. This year, Reverend Matt was invited into our Religious Education lessons where children were encouraged to ask any questions they had around Christingle and Nativity. The class also worked closely with members of our community to make Christingle oranges for our Church service. They felt a great sense of pride and achievement when they saw the difference they made to the service.
In Willow class, children will get the chance to take part in a one night residential to The Anderton Centre. The Anderton Centre is an award-winning activity centre, with a focus on work with young people. Offering facilities with full outdoor land and water-based activities.
We have regular enrichment opportunities for children including a school choir, after school clubs including Mad Science and Fencing! There is something for every child to enjoy and be inspired by.
